I'm reading this (<---) book. The book consists of the seven stories. And there are some questions in the end. 

THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM 
1 How does the storyteller first find out about the pit? 
He crawled straight ahead - across the floor of the cell, while his hand went down. 

2 How is Time going to kill the storyteller? 
The storyteller was tied and under him was a pendulum with a pointed blade. The blade moved slowly, backward and forward. 

3 How many seconds pass between each swing of the pendulum at the end of the torture?
Eight seconds passed between each swing of the pendulum 

4 How do the rats help the storyteller? 
Rats ate his the rope.



THE GOLD BUG 
1 Describe William Legrand. 
His man was rich, but he lost his money. He had no family. He had a good education. He didn't like meeting with people. 

2 How is fire important in this story? 
The fire helped to see a letter. The letter was a secret of pirate and consist of clues where hide treasures. 

3 What are the two meanings for "a glass"? 
a glass - material for example glass bottle
and a glass, as a telescope 

4 What are: ( a ) the death's head ( b ) the devil's seat ( c ) a pickax ( d ) a tape measure? 
the death's head is a skull
the devil's seat is a cliff
a pickax  - is the tool for digger
a tape measure - is the tool for measuring. 

5 Why does Legrand think that the number 8 is E? 
Because E - is most frequently in the spelling of English words,  and the number 8 appears often in the letter. 

6 Look again at the code. What does this message mean?
°6(5;8)3‡0†8*;(85)?(8

THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MR VALDEMAR 
1 Mr.Valdemar wants to be hypnotized. Why? 
He thinks he can help some patient is an illness in their mind use to hypnotism. 

2 Why does the storyteller hold a mirror to Mr. Valdemar's lips? 
It's a way to check live or died a man. 

3 Why will the doctor not sign the death certificate? 
Because the Mr. Valdemar's is live, he sleeps.

4 When does the storyteller end the hypnotism? Why? 
The storyteller decided sleep of death was wrong. 

5 What happens next?
Mr. Valdemar's died, he disappeared. His body became liquid.

Is it normal to get in touch with your friends by phone, email, or Facebook? Of course, it's normal, I think, in our time. Do you have an iPod or mp3 player? What kind? I used to listen to music on an iPod, but know I have an iPad, a Samsung SII, and my PC. Do you often watch DVDs? What kind? I don't watch DVDs, I download films on my PC. Once a month. Do you watch the BBC, CNN or MTV? No, I don't. Do you have any friends from the U K or the USA? I don't have a friend from the UK or the USA, but sometimes I chat with somebody from European countries.

Do you have a photo as a screen saver on computer or phone? What is it of? Yes. I have a photo as a screen saver on my computer. Generally, it's photo nature. Last time it was photo of sea which my friend took in Turkey when he stayed in the balcony our hotel room. Do you have a favorite photo of yourself as a child? Who took it? Yes, I have. I'm very little on this photo, I don't know how many years me there. My mom took this photo. I was crowling to mom's camera. I was wearing a red blouse. And I had only two teeth as a bunny.
